CREATIVE ORGANIZING
Day Giveaway: Natural Cleaner for Pet Stains + Odors
It was only a matter of time. Joy, who most likely has a future as a prosecuting attorney, had some pretty solid arguments making her case for a puppy. Faith had begun to spend her free time with one of two different neighbors. Neither family has young children, but they have dogs! Then there was me, quietly and covertly on Petfinder.org every few days, and coincidentally needing things from the pet supply store on adoption days. You can see how all of this was no match for my husband, right?
Don’t get me wrong, he loves dogs, too. But we already have two cats, one of which is geriatric, two active children, and two working parents. That’s a pretty full life, and what he really objected to was added complications and added messes. I get that. (As Chief Mess Cleaner, I totally get that!) So when he conceded and we adopted Chachi, I knew a good way to ensure harmony was to stay mindful of his concerns and try to reduce complications as much as possible. I mean, yes, this little guy is super handsome and adorable, but that only gets you so far!

One of the best things I did was to create a puppy-mess mini zone. In a small tote, I put in everything we needed for the unavoidable mistakes on the floor – absorbent rags, stain remover, paper towels and small trash bags. Let me tell you, that was a sanity saver in those first few weeks!
When the folks at Clean+Green reached out to us to try their products, the timing was pretty good. Between that puppy and the geriatric cat… well, let’s just say I have a special interest in effective pet stain and odor removers! I’m also always super interested in natural products, so it intrigued me to hear these products are natural and safe for people, pets and the planet!
According to Clean+Green, their all-natural formula delivers instant results in a safe, non-toxic, eco-friendly solution. They use a patented formula that encapsulates and eliminates stain and odor on contact by naturally biodegrading the stain or odor source. They even have one formulated for skunk odor. Oh, please, let me never need that one!
I’ve been very impressed with the products they sent us to try, so I asked if we could give one to our readers in honor of Earth Day and they agreed! Would you like to try one of their products for yourself?
To enter win a free product from Clean+Green, visit their web site then leave us a comment telling us which product you’d like to receive if you’re the winner. Post your comment by Monday, April 23, 2012 at 9 PM US CST. Winner will be selected at random and notified by email!
Happy Earth Day!

SAVE GREEN BEING GREEN
GIVEAWAY and Review: Clean + Green Pet Stain Remover

I have two older & finicky cats. Enough said! Anyone with pets understands what I am about to tell you - when you pets get older or things change in their life (moving, adding a family member, going on vacation, switching a product on them, not being prompt with changing the litter box, etc.) they can act out by urinating in places they should not. That's my main problem with our cats. And that is where Clean+Green came to the rescue.
But for some the problem might be the smell their cats/dogs/birds/ferrets leave on their furniture, which is what the Furniture Refresher is perfect for. Or maybe you live in an area where there are skunks - then you need to try the De-Skunk Coat Cleaner for dogs. Man! I hope I never have to use that product, but if I do need it I imagine it would be helpful.
Right now we only have 1 cats, so we only were able to review products for cats. In the past few weeks that we have had these products, we have been able to review all three products pictured above. The Litter Box spray and Furniture Refresher are great products to use on a weekly basis, but one hopes to not have to use the Carpet and Upholstery product. But I did have to use the Carpet and Upholstery product twice since receiving it. Darn cats! And you know what!
It eliminates the odor quickly and effectively. I would even go so far as to say that it eliminates the odor better than any other product we have tried. I am now wishing I had this product earlier and would have been able to save an area rug that we threw away. I believe this product would have removed the odor and we would still be able to use it and not have to worry about "that" smell.
Clean+Green natural pet stain and odor removers are safe for people, pets and the planet! Using a patented formula, Clean+Green encapsulates and eliminates stain and odor on contact - even skunk odor! - by naturally biodegrading the stain or odor source. The all-natural formula delivers instant results in a safe, non-toxic, eco-friendly solution. Ingredients include cane sugar derivatives, a proprietary blend of botanical extracts, hydrated cellulose, purified water, and a natural aerosol propellant (nitrogen). STAR TELEGRAM
Earth Day: Little Changes That Can Make a Big Difference
By Autumn Reo on 04/18/12 15:00
To recognize Earth Day, April 22, I felt I needed to do something environmentally impactful like start a compost pile or quit using disposable diapers. Unfortunately, my time and patience kept me from being the good example I intended to be. Instead I decided it was possible to still be a good patron of Mother Earth by just making a few changes with my family’s everyday that make tomorrow even better.
Turn in your toothbrush for the World Centric Compostable Toothbrush & Compostable Travel Case
With four people and several toothbrushes a year (and several multiples for us in different bathrooms), we are looking at around 20 toothbrushes just for our family. According to research reports, approximately 450 million toothbrushes are landfilled every year in the Unites States.
Using a compostable toothbrush shows that you care about the environment and about properly disposing of waste. This BPI certified compostable toothbrush and compostable travel case are made from Ingeo™ (derived from plants), instead of petroleum based plastics. Bristles are not compostable. You can break off the head to compost the handle and travel case within 6 months in a commercial composting facility. You can also send them your old toothbrush and travel case for composting.
Cash in your carpet cleaner for CLEAN+GREEN Auto Odor Eliminator, Cleaner and Stain Remover
We love our dog, Birddie. She’s a great dog and thankfully, she’s potty-trained, but sometimes there are accidents that must be cleaned in the house and sometimes in the car. When I take her to the vet or the groomer, she leaves a special scent that I’d rather bottle up and never open again. But to find something that can clean the problem and not run us out of the room/car with the fumes is an issue. Clean+Green line of cleaners provides a nice alternative to clean up the mess, the smell and not wonder if my pet or my kiddos are going to get sick if they inhale any poisonous fumes.
Used by pet and cleaning professionals, this professional strength product uses exclusive patented encapsulation technology and advanced eliminator formula. It’s made of natural ingredients like purified water, cane sugar derivatives, a proprietary blend of botanical extracts and hydrated cellulose (plant-derived cleaning agents), and a natural propellant – nitrogen. It’s environmentally non-toxic, non-flammable, non-corrosive, non-carcinogenic, biodegradable and natural propellant.
And good for me, it's quick and easy; working on contact - no need to soak, scrub or rinse.
Trade in your Zip Lock for the Sandwich Sack SnackTaxi
Every day I pack a lunch for my three-year old so I try to make it easy for him and his teachers for cleanup. Unfortunately just like me every day millions of plastic sandwich bags end up in U.S. landfills. So when I had to consider this Velcro sack. This stylish, reusable bag combines the convenience of a plastic bag with the durability of a food container and comes in several designs. Each one keeps up to 1,000 plastic bags out of landfills and is perfectly sized to carry your favorite sandwich. A Velcro® closure keeps contents securely inside, and they are flexible enough to fit into a wide range of backpacks, totes and diaper bags.
And did I mention you can put it in the washer – not the dishwasher, but the washing machine! (So one less thing for you to clean!)
Throw in the towel for Marcal Small Steps Napkins
With two kids and a dog, we use a lot of napkins. Actually, did you know the average person uses six paper napkins daily. So when I came across Marcal’s Small Steps® 100% recycled “green” napkins, it was exactly what I needed. And best of all, it wasn’t much more than are normal budget napkin. Another great features it that there is a drawstring to close the bag, so unlike my normal brand, I have napkins loose and getting wrinkled in the cabinet. Marcal’s Small Step Napkins are 100% recycled, hypoallergenic, free of dyes and fragrances and is manufactured without chlorine bleaching.
And treat ourselves with a good job with some good SunRidge Farms Chocolate Earth Balls
What a great way to treat ourselves to a job well done than with these cute little individually wrapped Earth-themed foil from SunRidge Farms. Made from an USDA organic certified company, these candies are sweetened with sugar cane than refined sugar and from a company know for being friendly to Earth and to your health.
See? It is possible to make a little impact even if it’s just one toothbrush, napkin, sandwich bag or cleaner (and chocolate) at a time. Little changes can make a big difference.
Happy Earth Day!
Disclaimer: I was provided the toothbrush, Auto Pet Odor Eliminator, SunRidge Farms chocolates and sandwich sack SnackTaxi from the Container Store for consideration of this review. However, the opinions presented are all my own.

However, sometimes tough stains and smells (like dog’s little accidents) are impossible to get tid of unless you are using strong chemicals, right? Not really!

Our Pomeranian is a great dog and doesn’t normally have accidents, but things do happen from time to time – he doesn’t like to go outside in a rain, but the little dog can only hold for so long. That is when I can say Thank You Thank You. First “Thank You” goes to Clean + Green for making it go away so painlessly – the second “Thank You” goes to Charlie for not having an accident on the carpet (just because I don’t have a Clean + Green cleaner for the carpet).

Green+Clean designed cleaning supplies that is completly eco-friendly fo carpet cleaning and stain removal, as well as cleaners for wood, tile, furniture – all with pets and environment in mind. What else does it remove? It create odors free air from urine, vomit, hairball, bird dropping or just in general odor smell.

FRUGALLY GREEN MOM
Clean and Green Gets Odors Out!
April 3, 2012
Welcome to one of my sponsors for the Earth Day Event, which will be
April 12-22!

Do you have pets? If you do, you probably have the occasional mess made by a pet too! We have a puppy who is just over one, so even though she’s improved a lot over the past year, we still have the occasional accident to clean up. Cleaning up accidents can be tricky – if you don’t get all of the odor up, your pet is likely to use that spot again!

Clean + Green makes products to help you clean up well without using harmful chemicals. Whether you have carpet, wood, or tile, they have a great product for you. They even have solutions for upholstery and autos! Their line of eco friendly green cleaning products are made from organic and biodegradable ingredients. Also, you can recycle the container when you are done with it.
We had two problem areas in our house that I tried this product out on. One was a spot inside on the floor, the other was our doormat, which Snoopy had decided at some point was her potty mat! I cleaned both spots really well while she was gone, and we had no accidents there this weekend! The inside one didn’t surprise me that much – but that outside mat I didn’t think we could save! I’m so glad we were able to, it was a heavy duty mat that was expensive, and I’d taken to actually draping it over an outside chair while Snoopy was here since it seemed as though it was her mission to use it as her potty. This weekend was busy, and I totally forgot about it, but she didn’t pee on it a single time! I hope that our huge problem spot will no longer be a problem area!
Be sure to connect with Clean + Green on facebook and twitter to find out about all of their latest discounts! And look for them as part of the giveaway pack on April 12th!

EARTH FAERIE MOMMA
Clean+Green Safe Stain and Odor Remover Review and Giveaway- Earth Day Event (US only 04/12-22/12)
I have received this can of Clean+Green by SeaYu.
About SeaYu:
SeaYu was founded by Quincy Yu and her adorable dog Simon. Quincy's goal is to provide a clean safe home. Being a mother and having a busy house full of kids and pets is what drove her to create her cleaning products. These products are safe for the whole family and help to preserve the earth. Not to mention, they are super easy to use! Quincy has formulated a line of products that you can use on all surfaces of your home. Each one of them passes Simon's "sniff" test.
I chose to try the carpet and upholstery cleaner. I have a problem cat that does not always go in the litter box. I have tried numerous products for the urine smell. When I first tried Clean+Green, I was very impressed. I made sure the area was dry and I sprayed it on. That was it! No soaking, extracting, rinsing or scrubbing. The stream came out fast and strong. I bent down and gave the carpet a sniff. The smell was gone instantly. The odor was not masked by nasty fragrances either. It left a sort of sweet refreshing smell. So, I left the spot to dry and came back the next day. There was still a faint odor because I am sure the cat urine was pretty deep into the carpet. I gave it another round and that took care of the odor in that area, so I moved on to another spot.

Here is where I put it to the real test. Our cat has his favorite "go to" area (more like "go pee" area). Thankfully, I am able to lift up the carpet. I found that he has peed there more than once and it is going through to the carpet padding. I started by soaking up what I could with a towel and making sure it was dry. Then I carefully sprayed each layer. Right away Clean+Green helped to take away some of the discoloration in the padding. After one more application it has helped take away most of the smell. It has done better than any other product I have tried. We have a wood floor under the carpet. I have been pouring other cleaners onto the stains repeatedly, which is keeping the carpet and padding in a continuous wet state. That is not good news for the wood underneath. With Clean+Green, I don’t have that problem. I think with the propellant spray design it is more concentrated and needs less water. Therefore, it cuts down on cleaning and drying time.
Here are the products they carry:
1. Carpet & Upholstery Stain, Odor Eliminator, Cleaner & Stain Remover (for Cats, Dogs and Dogs/Cats)
2. Concrete Odor Eliminator, Cleaner& Stain Remover (for Cats and Dogs)
3. Furniture Refresher (for Cats, Dogs and Dogs/Cats)
4. Wood& Tile Odor Eliminator, Cleaner & Stain Remover (for Cats, Dogs and Dogs/Cats)
5. Auto
6. De-Skunk Coat Cleaner
7. Litter Box Odor Eliminator and Cleaner
8. Small Animal- All Purpose Odor Eliminator and Cleaner
9. Cage Odor Eliminator & Cleaner (for Birds and Ferret) Spray
The product I chose, which is the carpet and upholstery cleaner, can be used on any water safe surface. That means it can be used on beds, couches, chairs and carpets.
What do I ♥ about it?
I love that it is natural and safe. It is biodegradable, water soluble and fragrance free! The ingredients are: Cane sugar derivatives, proprietary blend of botanical extracts, hydrated cellulose (cleaning agents) purified water and nitrogen.
I love how easy it is to use! With a toddler running around it is hard to find time to clean up such a stinky mess. With Clean+Green I was able to pull up the carpet, spray, and be done in less than 15 minutes.
What would I change?
I would like to see larger sizes available in the future. It says the can is recyclable but I don't know how I would do that where I live. Most consumers tend to throw bottles and cans away if they don't know how to recycle them. So, larger cans would mean less waste and more wonderful product!
What do I think overall?
It is nice to find someone who is dedicated enough to create and share great products (ones that are safe and efficient). I highly recommend Clean+Green and plan to use it again in the future. I would like to try the Auto Cleaner and the Litter Box Order Eliminator.

Clean + Green Pet Odor Products Review + Giveaway
March 8, 2012 By Jennifer
April is Earth Month and it’s right around the corner! Clean + Green wants to celebrate by promoting their all-natural pet odor and stain remover products. Clean + Green offers efficient cleaning products that are safe, non-toxic, eco-friendly, hypoallergenic and fragrance free! So, they are safe for people, pets and our planet!

I received three items from Clean + Green:
- Wood & Tile – Eliminates odors, deep cleans and removes stains safely from natural and laminate wood, and natural and cultured marble and tile surfaces.
- Carpet & Upholstery – Eliminates odors, deep cleans and removes stains from carpet, area rugs and upholstery.
- Furniture Refresher – Cleans and eliminates pet odors on fabric and leather.
Having an enormous white German Shepherd dog, we know all about pet smells, stains and fur! It’s a constant battle to keep the house smelling fresh with Hilo around. But, we wouldn’t trade him for the world. He’s part of the family and that won’t change. Instead, we look for the safest, healthiest, and most effective ways to clean the house thoroughly.
I learned quickly while cleaning that Hilo is very curious and will follow me to sniff – and sometimes lick – whatever I clean with. This is horrifying if cleaning with harsh chemicals. Clean + Green products are pet-safe so they are automatically a better choice in my book!
Of course, they need to work, too! Let me tell you that they do… and very well! We have embarrassingly nasty carpet in one of our bedrooms. It was here when we moved in and we just haven’t gotten around to replacing it yet. It has petrified pet stains on it that other cleaners have never made a dent in. I was floored when I sprayed the Carpet & Upholstery cleaner on them that the stains actually lightened dramatically! Even without scrubbing, I noticed the results right away. I am impressed.
Each one of the products is great. They will all get a lot of use in this house and we are thrilled with them. I also adore how easy to use that they are! They work on contact, so you just spray and walk away. Although they are fragrance free, they do leave behind a nice, fresh, clean scent. Love them!

Clean + Green Pet Products Won’t Poison Your Air [Review and Giveaway!]
October 17, 2011 By Beth Buczynski
I
I love my kitty. Probably a little too much. Something about her fuzzy head and the way she squeaks at me while I’m cooking in the kitchen makes me insanely happy. But that glee fades quickly when I have to clean up her smelly litter box or those very rare accidents on the carpet.
Cleaning up after pets can be a troublesome task for those trying to live a greener, healthier lifestyle. Pet messes often carry a terrible odor and can permanently stain carpets and upholstery in seconds if they’re not cleaned up properly. Unfortunately, most of the heavy duty pet cleaning products contain heavy duty chemicals that can poison your air and leave behind dangerous residue.
That’s why I was intrigued when Clean+Green asked me to review some of their all-natural pet odor and stain remover products.
Unlike most popular pet cleaning products, Clean+Green is made with safe ingredients (Cane sugar derivatives, proprietary blend of botanical extracts, hydrated cellulose, purified water and nitrogen) and materials that are biodegradable and recyclable. Moreover the products are non-toxic, non-flammable, non-carcinogenic and will not damage the ozone layer – with no harsh chemicals or fragrances.
Sounds great, right? But I was skeptical that such a “green” product could tackle the odor.
We tested out the Litter Box deodorizer first, since I can be a little bit of a slacker when it comes to daily litter box cleaning. The best part about this products was that it is fragrance free! I could spray as much as I wanted to neutralize the odor and didn’t have to wear a gas mask to breathe. I also didn’t have to worry that I was leaving behind a cloud of toxins for kitty to breathe in while using her box.
Usually kitty is pretty good about always making sure things that belong in the litter box STAY in the litter box. But the other morning she had a little accident when she got stuck in the office room while we were sleeping in. Luckily, it gave me the perfect opportunity to try out the Carpet & Upholstery cleaner.
Once again I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was no overpowering odor. I also liked the fact that, because it is made from natural ingredients, there’s no danger of this product bleaching the carpet. After removing the excess “mess,” all I had to do was spray directly on the spot until the carpet was damp. Once it was dry there was no odor no stain!
Giveaway!

"MODERN HIPPIE MAG" GONIG GREEN IS THE NEXT BLACK
Guest Contributor on August 5, 2011
According to a recent report, there was a 59% jump last year in the number of businesses that have gone green. This is great for the environment, plus nine out of ten of those businesses experienced cost savings by going green. Going green could spell black for your business, and this is especially important for small businesses. While it requires more heavy lifting and thinking on your part at the onset, the payoff is great in that it will help you reduce waste and operate more efficiently.
Quincy Yu has spent over 30 years as an operating executive for large and small businesses across a variety of industries, and is currently the President of SeaYu Enterprises. Quincy is sharing her advice for small business owners to take stock of how they operate in order to pave the way toward greener pastures.
Just Say No to Paper: While it’s nearly ingrained within most of us to print out and send paper documents to customers, you don’t have to today. Make sure you have software to convert documents from PDFs to Word, Excel or PowerPoint, and to PDFs, and then rely solely on email for transmitting your documents and/or correspondence with others. In this day and age where everyone is on the go, moving to an “all email” practice should be an easy transition. Also try to e-file all documents versus printing papers out and filing them in a physical folder. While saving on storage space, the benefit to the environment is that you’ll save a tree and reduce the amount of paper and ink costs normally incurred when you’re printing the old school way.
Send and Receive Invoices and Bills Efficiently: Sending invoices and receiving bills electronically does more than save paper – it saves you money (think no envelopes & no postage) and will provide you with an accurate accounting of when an invoice or bill is received. As for paying your bills, using electronic bill payment services will allow you to issue payment by (and not before) the due date- most bank e-payment services guarantee payment delivery dates or pay for late penalties -which eliminates the need to buy checks, envelopes and postage to pay bills.
Outsource Your IT and Reach for the Cloud: Most large companies require vendors to set up Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) capabilities for the transmission of purchase orders and invoices. If you need EDI capabilities, I recommend using a web-based (cloud computing) EDI provider versus trying to set up your own internal EDI system, unless you already have an internal IT department in place.
Evaluate a Products’ Packaging: Pay attention to the way you package your goods. Make sure that the packaging is sturdy to withstand warehouse and transportation handling, but don’t over engineer it so it is too bulky or heavy. Consumers and retailers are not only concerned about what is in your package, but the packaging itself, so try to use materials that are both recyclable and post recyclable.
Shipping the Right Way Can Save You Money: Transportation costs, especially with today’s gas prices, are higher than ever and everyone is looking for more efficient ways to ship. The more you ship at one time, the less it will cost per pound; it’s greener, too, because it requires less packaging, less handling and less gas. Work with your customers to identify a minimum for orders to increase the amount you ship at one time; you save and they save because they too will reduce the handling cost of receiving your products into their warehouse. Ship in pallets versus cartons, if possible – this increases the order size, reduces the per pound transportation cost, and lessens the potential for transportation damage.
Evaluate your supply chain logistics and work with your customers to see if there are greater efficiencies you can deploy to become even greener while saving money.
The benefits are tangible when you seek out environmentally conscious business practices. From saving trees to your bottom line – it may not be easy, but it’s great being green!

"SUCCEED AS YOU OWN BOSS" GOING GREEN IS THE NEXT BLACK
According to a recent report, there was a 59% jump last year in the number of businesses that have gone green. This is great for the environment, plus nine out of ten of those businesses experienced cost savings by going green. Going green could spell black for your business, and this is especially important for small businesses. While it requires more heavy lifting and thinking on your part at the onset, the payoff is great in that it will help you reduce waste and operate more efficiently. Here’s advice for small business owners to take stock of how they operate in order to pave the way toward greener pastures.

"KEEN FOR GREEN: CLEAN+GREEN FURNITURE REFRESHER REVIEW"
Clean + Green Furniture Refresher
Clean + Green's Furniture Refresher works very well. It helps remove those pet smells as well as pet stains. I love that it gets rid of pet odors without any gross overpowering artificial smells. (I'm looking at you, Febreeze!!! You're gross!)
You can use it on pet beds, pillows, plastic, leather, etc. I used it on my leather sofa and it didn't leave a residue or didn't discolor the couch. You don't need to scrub or rinse anything afterwards, so it's incredibly easy to use.
The can is recyclable and ozone safe. The ingredients are non-toxic, biodegradable, and non-carcinogenic, unlike many of the alternatives.
The price is comparable to similar products you can get at Petco, but I like that the formula is more eco-friendly.
Highly recommended and I look forward to trying more products!

"DO YOUR PART - SURPRISING WAYS TO TREAT PET STAINS & SMELLS"
| |
Living Green by Do Your Part
June 15, 2011
If you have a cat or dog at home – you know pet smells and stains are just a fact of life. Before you reach for a product filled with unwanted chemicals, Do Your Part and consider safer options.
One of the most effective and economical options is to use baking soda. Sprinkle the powder in litter boxes to prevent smells. For stains, a paste made with baking soda and water can be used on carpets and some fabrics to remove the evidence and to deodorize.
Club soda is another carpet saver! It will help bring the stain up to the surface so just blot it away. Go further by sprinkling baking soda on the area after it dries.
Vinegar is another favorite of mine when cleaning up from pets. White vinegar will help you kill bacteria and will deodorize the area. Spray it on and then scrub the spot. Lemon juice can also be used to neutralize the smell.
Then there are some store bought options. Ones by Clean and Green work wonders on tough spots – including leather. They also have non-toxic fabric deodorizers that are good for places where you pets like to hang out.
Using unwanted chemicals in homes isn’t good for us or our pets. So the next time you have to clean up an accident…Do Your Part and make a healthier choice.

"ECO-LIVING EXPERTS: NON-TOXIC PET STAIN REMOVAL TIPS"
April 29, 2011
When you have indoor pets, pet stains are a fact of life. But if you go to chemical lengths to get stubborn stains and odors gone for good, you might be harming the health of the planet and your pets.
“Pets have faster metabolisms and smaller lungs so they are breathing in any toxic chemicals at a faster rate and processing it through their systems quicker than humans,” says Quincy Yu, founder of Clean+Green pet stain and odor removal (pictured at right with her dog Simon). “Plus, pets are curious; they sniff and lick almost anything!”
Steer clear of stain removers that says “hazardous to humans and animals” or “flammable,” as that’s a pretty good indicator that something in the product is not so eco-friendly. And don’t think the registered with the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is a good thing. “If a product contains ingredients identified by the EPA as a potential health hazardous, it must be registered with the EPA,” says Yu. “Otherwise, there is no registration required.”
Thankfully, it doesn’t actually take industrial chemicals to lift pet stains, and you can find green options if you spend some time looking and reading ingredient labels. Lu mentions the following as ingredients that both work to remove odors and stains and are safe for the environment:
- Non-toxic plant based ingredients
- Natural enzymes
- Hydrated cellulose (plant-based cleaning agent)
- Ingredients listed as biodegradable
- Non-ionic surfactants
When buying any green cleaning product, always remember to learn what “green” really means to the company that manufactures it. Many companies simply have jumped on the bandwagon and “greenwashed” their products rather than taking out the truly harmful ingredients. And when it comes to our pets, that’s the last thing we want.
So what are your favorite natural pet stain cures and odor remedies? Tell us in your comments.

"ECOPRENEURIST: ECOPRENUEUR INTERVIEW SERIES: CLEAN+GREEN"
April 19, 2011
Part 10 in a series where Krates Ng (co-founder of Mokugift the ecard service) interviews fellow ecopreneurs. Today, Krates interviews Quincy Yu is founder of SeaYu Enterprises, makers of Clean+Green eco-friendly pet cleaning products.
1) Why did you start your company?
After adopting our dog Simon from the local shelter, I was faced with new and more difficult cleaning challenges. I could not find cleaning products that were safe to use around Simon and my family that had minimal impact on the environment and actually worked. This was the impetus behind starting the Clean+Green product line.
2) Is there a story behind the name of your company?
Yes, my husband’s surname is Seaman and mine is Yu. Since we started the company together, it became SeaYu.
3) What was the toughest challenge in getting your company through the most recent growth stage and how you got overcame the challenge?
Operating capital. Professional funding sources for early-stage companies have been sitting on the sidelines these last few years, so we reached out to friends and family who had faith in our (the founders) vision and experience.

4) Can you describe the moment when you knew that your company hit full stride as a business?
You know your company has its stride when (1) you start to close larger customers and (2) the company can meet the often strenuous and complex supply chain management demands required to deliver product.
5) If you had to pick one product in your lineup, which one would you showcase and why?
I would pick our newest product – the Clean+Green Fabric Refresher. When you have pets in the house, you have animal smells – on their beds (on your and the kids beds), on the carpet, on the sofa… so you need something that can freshen up the house in-between weekly laundry or housecleaning chores. A lot of folks use fragranced air fresheners and fabric refreshers to hide these smells, and frankly, fragrances and perfumes are not healthy for animals, kids or adults. Our products are fragrance free and work! I’m passionate about increasing awareness about the dangers of chemical fragrances.
6) How is your company going to grow in 2011? And how can other ecopreneurs help?
Our company is growing organically, and with the demand for natural and green products finally going mainstream in 2011, we’re getting a better response from consumers and retailers. Other ecopreneurs can help by continuing to (1) make sure that they stand behind the products and convince consumers that their green products can stand up to efficacy of traditional products (offered by their competitors) and (2) spend efforts to educate consumers and retailers about what makes their products green.

"GREEN CROSS: CLEAN+GREEN"
I don't use the word miracle very often. Truth be told, I didn't really believe in miracles until recently, when I got a package in the mail containing these two aerosol cans of Clean+Green cleaning products [legally, I have to disclose that they sent me free samples to review their product]. Even upon inspecting the cans, I was skeptical, especially since the directions instructed me to spray the mess and then do nothing, no wiping no blotting, nothing. You can imagine, then, why I use the verbiage of a religious experience when I first had an opportunity to use this brilliant product and it worked better than anything else ever. And when I say that it worked, I mean I didn't do a thing, the product literally did all of the work.
The word 'aerosol' in the last paragraph may scare some people, as CFCs which deplete the ozone have been used as aerosol propellants in the past. But please, do not be alarmed, because CFCs are not the only effective propellants. In fact, the folks at Clean+Green use nitrogen as their propellant, which does not deplete the ozone, is not a green house gas, and has no toxicity at all. Nitrogen is already the most abundant element in our atmosphere, and spraying it out of a can has just about exactly zero impact on the environment.
The packaging of this product is almost entirely aluminum, which is not only 100% recyclable with very little loss or degradation of materials, it's vastly more energy efficient when recycled than when produced new (it has been estimated that recycling aluminum takes 5% of the energy of producing it from bauxite). The remaining components are plastic, which is also recyclable (though less awesomely so).
[Update: I assumed the packaging was aluminum. In fact, it is a pretty new and exiting process for making tin free steel aerosol cans, which is lighter (more fuel efficient to ship), made from two solid pieces with no welding (reducing the need for copper and water in manufacturing). Steel is still 100% recyclable with almost no loss or degradation to the product in the recycling process.]
The most impressive thing about this product, however, is not that it works miracles with pet waste and odors, nor that it comes in recyclable packaging or uses nitrogen as its propellant, no. The most amazing thing is that the cleaning agents are completely non-toxic as well. No chlorine, no ammonia, no alcohol, no oxidants, it is not bleach based or enzymatic in nature, it is not even perfumed (aromatic compounds can irritate some people, especially those with severe allergies). Everything that goes into this cleaner is biodegradable, and completely safe for pets (who have a tendency to lick interesting smells on the floor), kids, and the environment.
So in short, if I was prone to using a star system, this product would get as many as I can give. It handled multiple different kinds of pet stains and odors from my dogs and my cats, leaving no residual smell or stains in carpets or upholstery. We even tried it on an old ink stain on a sofa, and to our utter shock and amazement, it reduced the visibility of the stain significantly (they don't make any claims about ink though, so don't hold me or them to that). Marry that performance with a non-toxic, biodegradable product packaged in recyclable materials, and you have one great, green product that I am happy to promote. In short er: Clean+Green is one of the best cleaning products I have ever used.

"CHUBBY CHEEKS THINKS" CLEAN+GREEN BRINGS YOU ECO-FRIENDLY CLEANING PRODUCTS
Sunday, July 11, 2010
I am a clean freak when it comes to my home and vehicles. Now that I have kids and a dog, it's hard to keep up with all of the messes and stains. I love my steam cleaner but it's a pain to drag out. While Jilly (our fur baby) doesn't have accidents, she still eats the occasional eats something outside that makes her sick. Between her and the kids, I am always finding random "presents" on myfloors! When I was given the opportunity to try Clean+Green products by SeaYu, I was really excited to see if these could be something we could use in our house everyday.
Clean+Green offers the only eco-friendly aerosol pet cleaning products. Their green products are made from organic and biodegradable
ingredients which make them non toxic to animals. With Jilly being like our first child, keeping her safe and healthy is just as important as keeping our kids safe and healthy. The containers are also made so you can recycle them, which is great for the earth! The advanced Eliminator3 Formula eliminates odors, deep cleans and removes stains all while being natural! You can't beat that! ingredients, which keeps them safe to use around
Clean+Green sent me 3 products. I received the Clean+Green Auto, Furniture Refresher for Dogs, and Carpet & Upholstery for Dogs. I actually used the Furniture Refresher on a spill that we had on our couch. It was a beer spill to be exact. I was impressed that it not only took out the spill mark, but also took away the beer smell which is awesome since old beer is a nasty smell!
The Carpet & Upholstery is great for random stains. I used it on a throw up spot that I had previously cleaned a couple days prior from Jilly. Now for all of you dog owners out there, you know that nasty yellow that is left behind when you clean up dog throw up. The Carpet & Upholstery for Dogs lightened up the stain even more! I could still see the stain a little tiny bit but Kyle couldn't. I am meticulous when it comes to stains so I can spot them when they are barely there! So it definitely gets an A+ in my book.
We just bought a used car the other day so I got to use the Clean+Green Auto cleaner on the whole entire inside! It had a funky odor so I had my fingers crossed on this one. I sprayed pretty much every inch and followed it with some nice spelling coconut spray. I loved how it didn't smell like I was covering something up. It had a nice fresh clean smell and still does 3 days later! I even sprayed the seat belts because I'm guessing the previous owner was a woman who used lots of STRONG smelling perfume.
I am very pleased that I am now the proud owner of these non-toxic GREEN products that I can use around the kids and Jilly! It's nice to know that I don't have to wait until everyone goes to bed to clean for fear of anyone getting sick from breathing in or touching anything. I love how there really isn't an odor to any of the products and how fast they all work. The price is nice as well. Normally you will find them on sale, but at a regular price of $9.99 per can, they are all very affordable to own. Also if you spend over $25, you will receive free shipping! There is something for everyone regardless of whether you own a pet or not! Besides the three products I tried, you will also find some other amazing cleaners, such as the Litter Box Cleaner & Odor Eliminator, Cage for Birds Cleaner & Odor Eliminator, and Wood & Tile for Dogs!

"INNERCIRCLE PETS" SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA PETS
SF Based SeaYu's Greener, More Eco-friendly solution for Removing Pet Odors and Stains

Pet accidents, messes, and other pet-related odors and stains can be stubborn, and sometimes despite all your efforts, you can still see the stain or detect the odor. There are a lot of chemical-based products out there to tackle the problem - but not only do they not always work very well, but you have to think about the ecological impact, as well. These days there are more and more people turning to natural cleaning products in all sorts of contexts, and San Francisco based company SeaYu has come up with a line of organic stain removers, cleaners, and odor eliminating products that will help keep your home and your pet's surroundings fresh and pleasant.
The Clean and Green range of products is an impressive collection of stain and odor eliminating sprays that cover pretty much any possibility. There are separate products for cats and dogs, and you can get sprays that are appropriate for a variety of materials, so no matter if you're dealing with carpet, wood, tile, or upholstery, you can choose the correct spray for your situation. There's even a de-skunking coat cleaner spray made entirely from non-toxic botanicals.
SeaYu also make odor removers for bird cages and small animal habitats, including ferret cages. You can even get a litter box spray to help neutralize odors in that notoriously difficult area. It's amazing how well this stuff works, and the fact that it's eco-friendly is just a great bonus. So if you never thought an all-natural product could be potent enough to tackle your stain and odor problems, give this one a try and see if you don't change your mind.

"JUST ANOTHER NEW BLOG" CLEAN+GREEN REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY
I used to take great pride in my spotless carpets. That was, of course, before my kids became mobile. We have rules about eating and drinking in the kitchen only but mishaps happen. Friends come over, crayons get sucked into the vacuum cleaner, coloring my beige carpet a shade of bright yellow - and some crayons are less washable than others, markers draw on surfaces other than paper and whiteboard, and mysterious stains just appear out of nowhere. Oh, and did I mention potty training? It brought back memories of my first puppy who arrived at my house at the tender age of 6 weeks. I spent most of summer vacation that year with a mop in one hand and a dishrag in the other, constantly cleaning up messes. Some good pet cleaning products would have saved the day - and my summer, too.
Clean+Green are eco-friendly aerosol pet cleaning products that I found can be used successfully on kids' messes, too. Clean+Green products are non-toxic, and permanently clean pet stains and eradicate odors. They are safe for pets, people, and the planet. Each Clean+Green product targets a specific odor/stain problem and can be used on carpet and area rugs, wood floors, tile, cement and all fabrics. In addition, the sprays are non-flammable, non-carcinogenic and will not damage the ozone layer – with no harsh chemicals or perfumes, no VOCs and no CFCs. They have products specifically formulated for use with dogs, cats, dogs and cats, small animals, and birds.
I tried the Clean+Green Furniture Refresher and the Furniture Refresher. Both are very easy to apply - just spray and let dry, or wipe off, depending on the surface. They contain natural ingredients and are safe to use on furniture and upholstery, fabric, leather, vinyl and plastic. The products are biodegradable, and just as the entire Clean+Green line, safe to use around kids - a big plus in my book. I used them to get rid of some stubborn stains on my carpet and sofa. Then I took care of a couple of spots on the car's upholstery. Worked like a charm! They clean, remove stains, and eliminate odors all in one step - on surfaces that you can't just pre-treat and throw in the washer.
Here are some neat tips and tricks on how to take care of your stinky sofa pillows:
First, take the pillow cover off of the pillow and spray it down with CLEAN+GREEN Furniture Refresher. Next, get a large plastic bag and your vacuum cleaner. Thoroughly spray the surface of the pillow with CLEAN+GREEN Carpet & Upholstery, and put the treated pillow in the plastic bag. Suck all the air out of the pillow (compressing it so that CLEAN+GREEN can reach the odor source) by placing your vacuum cleaner hose inside the bag, wrapping the bag around the hose and turning on the vacuum. Keep it wrapped up tight in the bag for about 15 minutes then take it out and see if the odor is gone. If you still smell something, you’ve missed a spot; repeat the process above until it is all gone.
Voila - no need to replace the entire sofa!

"ECOKAREN" CLEAN+GREEN REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY
June 1, 2010
Rosey
I am a sucker. I gave in and got a dog for my daughter when she turned ten. What is it with kids wanting pets when they reach the ripe old age of ten? Do they think just because their age is now a double digit that they become responsible all of a sudden? My son went through it too but I was able to talk him out of it. He’s a boy. He can be persuaded. But not my daughter. She didn’t take ‘No’ for an answer.
Anyway, I got suckered into getting Rosey, – a Maltese, a hypoallergenic and non-shedding small ten-pounder of a bitch. Yes, I can say that because she’s a female dog… and also for what the word insinuates, sometimes.
She is five years old now and is paper trained and is generally good with not peeing in all the wrong places but she does occasionally barf – on my (her) couch, always on the same spot. There are still some accident spots that turned grey from when we were training her. And trust me when I say this – NONE OF THE STAIN REMOVERS I TRIED WORKED!!! What ended up happening was that the actual soiled matters disappeared but the evidence of the chemical reaction from the stain removers remained. In some areas, the stain turned grey (as shown below) even though original pee stain disappeared.
Clean + Green to the rescue? Hmmm….dunno.
When Clean + Green contacted me to try their stain remover, I’ll be honest, I was not very confident that it was going to work and was ready to be disappointed, like with all the other stain removers. So after I received the package and waited for Rosey to have an accident to try it, I was not holding my breath. And wouldn’t you know it, as if she read my skepticism and reluctance, she was being the perfect pet and was not having any accidents or barfing anywhere. The rep from Clean + Green e-mailed me, gently asking, if I tried the product and how I liked it. (She probably thought, “Oh man, when is this lady going to post the review?”) I told her, my dog has been behaving so well and I doubt I can use her as a subject to test the product. I asked her – how does it work on Spaghetti stains? (Yes, I’m that brave – all in the name of a through product review.) She said, it works on ALL stains. Wow. She was that confident, I thought. Then, she said, as if she had a premonition, “Watch, as soon as you use spaghetti stain to test, your dog will have an accident.” What do they say? From a babe’s mouth to God’s ears?
Two days after that conversation, as if she willed Rosey, the bitch peed on my white bathroom rug, and barfed on the couch three days after that. Damn the rep! If Rosey gets a check in the mail, I’ll be really pissed.
Clean + Green came to the rescue? What do you think?
Did it work? I’ll let you see the result.
Need I say more? You can clearly see the ‘Before’ and ‘After’ pictures as you go down each column
Top of the rug – left column Under the rug – right column

Ta da! – A NEW old rug. I wish I used the video to show you how quickly the yellow stain disappeared right in front of my eyes. It really was magical. I could not believe it. I did wash the rug afterwards because it was time to wash it anyway but I really didn’t need to. The stain was totally g-o-n-e!!

I was now curious. How about those four year old yellow-turned-grey pee stains? The rep warned me that it might not work as well since the fibers would have changed from the original stain or from the chemicals used in trying to remove the stain. But I thought, it doesn’t hurt to try, right?
So here are a pair of four year old stains, and just for you, I selected two side-by-side ones – I have all kinds of combination, trust me. And don’t judge me – I am about to change the carpet in my bedroom to wood soon…but may be not, after seeing these results!

The photos above on the right was taken about five minutes after I sprayed. The photo below was taken four days after I sprayed. And you know these are the same stains I sprayed because of the little brown specs of stain above the left one.

Holey Moley! I am totally, unequivocally, shamelessly convinced now that Clean + Green works!! I was so ready to write the review… and then Rosey barfed on my (her) couch. (My mom always says, “never compliment anyone because he/she/it will always make you eat your words.” Thanks Mom, again.) Rosey really wants me to be convinced, for sure. That little B…
The Barf Couch
Note to self: she doesn’t like scrambled eggs.

What can I say? They got me. I am a firm believer now. The stuff friggin WORKS!! And the best part? You DON’T have to scrub. You just spray and walk away. In fact, longer you stay away, cleaner it gets. Where was this stuff when Rosey was a puppy???
What is in this stuff anyway?
The all natural ingredients are from:
- cane sugar derivatives,
- proprietary botanical extracts
- hydrated cellulose (cleaning agents),
- purified water
Also, the propellant used is nitrogen and not chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) so you can be rest assured that it is safe for the ozone layer and does not harm the environment.
About Clean + Green
Quincy Yu, a mom of five kids and a dog, Simon, started Clean + Green in an effort to keep a clean and safe home for her large family. Each product has to pass Simon’s “sniff” test and her “clean” test. Clean + Green is safe on all water-safe surfaces, non-toxic, non-flammable, non-corrosive, non-carcinogenic and 100% biodegradable. It works on contact so you don’t have to scrub or soak. As long as it is sprayed on the stain, it friggin’ WORKS!! (I’m still shaking my head in disbelief!) And you know what? I betcha, it will take out spaghetti stains, red wine stains, and even may be blood stains. I didn’t try those but I think I just may, just for the hell of it. Maybe not the blood. I’m not that crazy. (“What? You are bleeding? Can you just walk over here and drop some blood on the carpet, honey?” – no, that’s not happening)
In addition to the Carpet & Upholstery Stain and Odor Remover (for Cats and Dogs) that I tried, the company also makes:
- Concrete Odor Eliminator, Cleaner & Stain Remover (for Cats and Dogs)
- Furniture Refresher (for Cats and dogs)
- Wood & Tile Odor Eliminator, Cleaner & Stain Remover (for Cats and Dogs)
- Auto
- De-Skunk Coat Cleaner
- Litter Box Odor Eliminator and Cleaner
- Small Animals – All purpose Odor Eliminator and Cleaner
- Cage Odor Eliminator & Cleaner (for Bird and Ferret)
The only tiny question I had was what is in their “Proprietary” botanical extracts. I know every company has its trade secrets but I would really like to know what they are. The other minor issue was being careful not to tilt the can too much to prevent the propellant to escape too fast. That was a little tricky when you are spraying downward onto the floor.
But overall, I am in love with this product. And according to the website, it’s sold in my local supermarket, Stop and Shop!! Yay! I’m going to have to buy a case so that I don’t’ have to buy a new carpet! It’ll still be cheaper.
For its 100% effectiveness and being uber eco-friendly, I give Clean + Green five green hearts!

"FULLTIME-MOM: ECO-FRIENDLY SOLUTION TO PET STAINS/ODORS!

Recently I was given the opportunity to review an earth friendly product that claims to remove pet odors and stains. The timing for this review is quite ironic because we just rescued a miniature poodle from a local shelter, (that is her in the picture all fancied up by my daughters).
Our new friend, Molly, had a very rotten start at life. She was kept in a cage and used as a puppy mill breeding dog. When we got her she was like a brand new puppy, not a 5 year old dog. She didn't know how to climb stairs, walk on a lease, take food from our hands, and she ran away and hid every time someone went near her. Since the time we got her, all of those problems have ended and she is the sweetest, most lovable little girl. However, one issue still remains...............potty training!
Molly still hasn't learned that you can't just go to the bathroom when you have the urge, that sometimes you need to hold it and alert a human that you need to go outside. We are working on it, and there have been some small successes, but we still have a lot of accidents.
So, when the opportunity came up for me to review this pet cleaner, I jumped at the chance! I was also very excited that the product was Earth friendly.
Here is the low-down on this product from the manufacturer:
*This is an eco-friendly aerosol pet odor and pet stain remover
*It is made from organic and biodegradable ingredients
*It is non toxic
*The packaging is recyclable
*A typical price per bottle is $7.99 with free shipping on
orders over $25.00!
As my readers know, I get very excited about green products that actually work, and this is one of them!
The day I received my sample to review, I followed Molly around the house knowing that it wouldn't take long for me to test it out. (Of course, she delivered) I discovered a spot on my area rug and went to testing out the product.
Here is what I really loved:
*The aerosol action that propels the cleaner is strong and you feel like you are zapping away the stain. I turned my area rug over to check, and the spray went through to the back of the rug! You will be surprised and pleased at the strength of this cleaner! However, it isn't a dangerous, ozone depleating aerosol--BONUS!
*I don't have to worry about the cleaner being toxic to my children or my dogs!
* The scent to the spray was minimal, so my house didn't smell "perfumey".
Instead the stain and odor were neutralized leaving my house smelling like it did before the accident. A flowery or perfume scent doesn't mean clean, don't be fooled by that!
Here are some other things I liked about this product:
*The company makes many different versions of the cleaner for different types of
floors and upholstery. I tested the one for carpets, but you can also get cleaners for
wood and tile floors too, not to mention furniture!
(Thank goodness Molly doesn't have accidents on the furniture!!!)
PLUS it has products for:
Cats
Dogs
Birds
Small Animals
Skunk Spray too!!!
*I also LOVE the website of this product, it is full of information and the animal pictures are
so cute! The customer service was also great!
One negative:
I felt like I went through the can really fast. This could be because I was using too much of the spray, or because I was cleaning up more accidents than is probably typical due to the circumstances of my rescued dog. It is a green product, so it carries a higher price tag. My advice would be to make sure you don't use too much, only what you need to get the stain out.
The Verdict
In my opinion, if you are in the market for a pet odor and stain remover that is kind to the planet, this is a good choice!

"YOUR GREEN REVIEW" CLEAN+GREEN
Green Product Review: Clean + Green
May 5, 2010
The Rundown:
What: Clean + Green Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner
Price: Reg $9.99 at www.odorandstainremover.com
Product Ingredients:
Cane sugar derivatives, proprietary botanical extracts and hydrated cellulose (cleaning agents), purified water and nitrogen propellant.
Manufacturing Location: USA
What Makes It Green:
Avoids the use of unnecessary compounds linked to respiratory irritation and other health concerns, such as fragrances, and contains cosmetic grade ingredients which the company claims is safe for people, pets and the planet. The product also has a number of sustainable features including a recyclable can, design for waterless clean up and uses a nitrogen aerosol propellant, a healthier alternative to common propellants like butane and carbon dioxide.
PROS:
- Spray and walk away. No need for scrubbing or rinsing, just spray thoroughly and let Clean + Green do the rest. To my surprise, it was just that simple.
- It’s affordable. At under $10.00, it’s not just easy on your back, it’s easy on your wallet too.
- It’s Fragrance-free. Fragrances and ‘masking agents’ often contain phalates, some of which have been labeled as probable carcinogens by the EPA and the Department of Health and Human Services. Clean + Green’s fragrance-free design helps ensure odors aren’t being masked and doesnt’ contain any unnecessary fragrances which may compromise your family’s health .
- Cosmetic grade, non-toxic ingredients (see below for C&G’s definition of non-toxic).
- Free of carcinogens identified under Proposition 65. Proposition 65 identifies ‘Chemicals Known to the State of California to Cause Cancer or Reproductive Toxicity’.
- It’s CO2-free. Free of carbon dioxide (CO2) with its use of nitrogen as its propellant.
- Contains no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). According to Clean Air Counts <http://www.cleanaircounts.org/> , VOC’s pollute indoor air quality and may cause respiratory and eye irritation. Using products free of VOC’s helps to keep your home more than clean-it keeps it healthy too. Kudos Clean + Green!
- Provides some product ingredient verification. Clean + Green provides product Material Safety Data Sheets with a request to the manufacturer. This information can help validate manufacturer claims and helps establish transparency-something more Americans are demanding with increasing concerns about the ingredients used in common household products.
- Safe to use around pets and people. Because its formula is labeled as non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable and non-carcinogenic, you can rest assured it’s safer to use around the family than many of its conventional counterparts (but keep out of reach of kids, of course).
- Waterless cleanup. The spray and walk-away design reduces cleaning-related water consumption. Every little bit counts!
- Comes in a recyclable can. Need I say more?
- Made in the USA.
CONS:
- Lack of full ingredient disclosure. Like many other cleaning products, Clean + Green does not fully disclose its ingredient list, claiming a proprietary blend/process. This makes it difficult to fully evaluate the environmental and health impacts of this product.
- Commits the 5th Sin of Greenwashing (The Sin of Irrelevance). Clean + Green makes the claim that its product is free of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s) despite the fact that, according to the National Aerosol Association, no aerosols containing CFC’s have been made or sold in the US since 1978 (with the exception of some medical devices). This is not an uncommon claim among cleaning products but is misleading nonetheless.
- May require heavy use. In order for the product to work effectively, it may require substantial use of the product for each spot treated area.
Now a little Q & A with Clean + Green…
YGR – How does Clean & Green define ‘All natural’?
C&G: Clean+Green identifies its products as “all natural” because the active ingredients are derived from biodegradable plant extracts, and it uses a natural propellant (nitrogen). The ingredients include cane sugar derivatives, proprietary blend of plant extracts, hydrated cellulose (cleaning agents) and purified water delivered by the natural carrier, nitrogen. No fragrances, perfumes, masking agents or inhibitors are used in the product.
YGR: How does Clean & Green define ‘non-toxic’?
C&G: Clean+Green defines non-toxic as ingredients at not harmful, toxic, flammable, corrosive or carcinogenic.
YGR: Is the product certified biodegradable?
C&G: Clean+Green exceeds the EPA test for biodegradation [Editor’s Note: the product does not appear to be certified by any third party].

"BEGREENMINDED" EASY (AND GREEN) SPOT REMOVER
Easy (and green) spot removal
Posted on 26 April 2010
As a family with two little boys and two cats, we have our share of messes. Most of our floors are easy to wipe down. But we do have throw rugs and carpets that the little ones in our family like to spit and spill on.
Our cats are very good about using the litter box, but they do spit up. Even though we try to brush them, they get hairballs. And it’s frustrating trying to clean up the ensuing stains.
Last year I wrote about cleaning our pet and kid stained carpets with white vinegar. It worked, but took lots and lots of effort. I felt like Cinderella scrubbing the carpet with a toothbrush.

The people who make Clean + Green recently sent me a can of their carpet and upholstery cleaner to try. Since I have not gotten on my hands and knees to scrub our rugs in a while, I welcomed a chance to have clean carpets without too much work or too much guilt.
Once our can arrived, I took some before shots of our worst rug. It seems all the littles in our house like to stain poor Tigger.

Poor Tigger, he’s pretty dirty.

I’m not sure why he attracts all of the stains. Maybe they’re just more visible on him.
The can was super easy to use. I just directed the spray at Tigger’s worst stains and sprayed.

This is what he looked like right after spraying.

As you can see, he had several spots for me to spray.
Once I finished spraying the stains, I had to double-check to make sure I didn’t need to scrub. The cleansers are not only pet and human friendly (as well as eco-friendly) they are also apparently powerful enough to not merit scrubbing.
According to their website, the cleaners “encapsulate” the stains and then biodegrade naturally.
There are some caveats. You’re supposed to use the cleaners within 72 hours of the stain. I didn’t have any new stains, so I just hoped for the best with these old ones. (I decided not to encourage more stains.)

As you can see, once the cleaner dried, most of the spots were gone. As was the dinginess. How cool is that? I love that all I had to do was spray and wait. Not many things are that easy around here.
These products are also supposed to be great for pet odors.
Each 16 ounce can is supposed to be good for 20 regular applications. Each can is $7.99 and can be ordered online. Several pet stores also carry these products. You can use their store locator to find one near you.
As with most products these days, they have a blog, Twitter and Facebook account. And you can find giveaways for different products if you subscribe, follow or friend them.
I was really impressed with our demo. Have any of you tried this product? What do you think about it?
Also, next week is Be Kind to Animals Week. What are you doing for your furry friends? I’m thinking of taking our 3-year-old to pet the animals at our local Humane Society.

"ECOSALON" BEST PET CLEANING PRODUCTS FOR REMOVING ODORS AND ACCIDENTS

April 13, 2010
Best Pet Cleaning Products for Removing Odors and Accidents
I never thought I would spend so much time worrying about what I clean my floor with until I had to deal with housebreaking a puppy. The guilty fur ball left puddles of pee everywhere. Not only did the amount of necessary floor cleaning increase by about 1,000 percent, but also with a dog constantly licking the floor and eating the rug, I had extra reason to find a highly functional, non-toxic, eco-friendly solution. If only the stubborn pup would’ve stuck to his wee-wee pad! Here are my top three cleaners for tackling pet accidents.
Clean + Green Dog Urine Odor and Stain Remover
Clean + Green’s line couldn’t be easier to use. They have an array of products designed for every scenario from Furniture Refresher for Cats to Concrete Grout Cleaner for Dogs. And while a lot of stain removers require a long soaking and rinsing ritual, the Carpet Upholstery formula needs no attention – just spray it and leave it. The same goes for the Wood and Tile solution, however I always wipe my wood floors dry anyway.
ECOS Earth Friendly Products Pet Stain Odor Remover
If you have something to clean and need an eco-friendly solution, chances are ECOS has the product you need. Their Pet Stain Odor Remover works on any kind of surface your furry friend decides to mark as his territory, from upholstery to wood floors. You’ll need to let the cleaner sit on fabric spills for five minutes and you can let it soak for up to two weeks if you have really tough odors hanging on.
Simply Neutral All-Purpose Cleaner
While this green cleaner (made with only three ingredients) isn’t specifically for pets, it’s my top choice for a fresh scent. While the other two formulas do the job, this all-purpose cleaner leaves behind a lovely citrus scent, which makes me forget about the stink that got me down on my hands and knees in the first place! The formula also has tea tree essential oil inside, which has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal effects.

"HEALTHY PETS BLOG" CLEAN+GREEN REVIEW

Keeping my pets healthy is a job I take serious. I stopped using most all commercial cleaners in my home 6 years ago, after one of my beloved Shelties died of cancer. I was relieved to know the products I cleaned with would not be causing health risks to the animals – but I was never pleased with the way the products worked. So many of the natural cleaners did not work on pet stains. I couldn't use my standard vinegar solution because it wouldn't take the accidental urine odors out of the carpet.
Since I'm a healthy pet nut and was already on the lookout for non-toxic cleaning products I was excited to receive some review samples of a new safe pet area cleaning line of products!
A few days after I got the CLEAN+GREEN® carpet cleaner, Riley the Sheltie was throwing up and Bob the cat decided to use the carpet instead of his perfectly clean litter box. The carpet cleaner worked beautifully on the cat pee. It removed the stain, urine and 100% of the smell. Wow, that's a first for getting rid of pet urine smell!
Unfortunately I didn't have the same great results with the dog vomit. I think I should have sprayed it heavier to soak the area and let it sit longer. Next time, yes there will be a next time, I'll soak the area and let it stay longer before wiping.
* Update… The cat threw up this morning so I used the carpet cleaner and this time it worked wonderfully. I think it has something to do with what the dog vomited as to why the product didn't work the first time…..
I tried the carpet and upholstery cleaner on a stain on the cushions of my rocker. First let me say this stain was actually spilled coconut oil that I had used on the dogs a few days earlier and it spilled while it was melted. It took every bit of the coconut oil stain out, not a trace and this is on a light colored fabric.
My dogs spend a lot of time hanging out with me in the house and they make the carpet and couch smell a bit doggy! I sprayed the leather couch with the furniture refresher. I spayed a small amount on the seat cushions and wiped with a dry cloth. The couch smells fresh and the refreshing product took some of the doggy oils off as well.
I'm glad the products are non-toxic and safe for my pets because Scotty, one of the Shelties, went right to the place I sprayed on the carpet and licked it! I moved him out of the room. He was fine because there are no harmful ingredients in the CLEAN+GREEN® products.
I 100% recommend the CLEAN+GREEN® products for all pets. The products work so much better than any "natural" cleaning products I've tried over the years. And this is an honest review based on my own opinion. I am not being compensated now or ever from the CLEAN+GREEN® company, I did receive free sample products.
Here are a few things to think about - even if you're not a healthy pet nut like me...
According to the Environmental Protection Association (EPA), typical household cleaning products and air fresheners are one of the leading contributors to poor indoor air quality. The agency reports that poor indoor air quality can lead to health issues; animals have faster metabolisms and smaller lungs than humans, and not only are they processing these chemicals at a faster rate, they are also breathing them in more rapidly. Because animals are closer to the ground, they are more often in direct contact with these harmful substances.
CLEAN+GREEN® are the only eco-friendly aerosol pet cleaning products on the planet. Unlike most other cleaning products that can be harmful, require multiple applications and/or only temporarily mask odors, CLEAN+GREEN® delivers instant results in a non-toxic, eco-friendly solution. CLEAN+GREEN® permanently cleans pet stains and eradicates odors. It is safe for pets, people (kids too!), and the planet. Each CLEAN+GREEN® product is individually formulated to address a specific odor/stain problem and can be used on carpet and area rugs, wood floors, tile, cement and all fabrics. The products are non-toxic, non-flammable, non-carcinogenic and will not damage the ozone layer – with no harsh chemicals or perfumes, no VOCs and no CFCs.
CLEAN+GREEN® offers a line of green home cleaning supplies for green carpet cleaning and carpet stain removal, green wood & tile floor cleaning, and green furniture cleaning for pet urine removal, pet stain removal and pet odor removal. The products work on cat urine, dog urine, vomit, hairballs, bird droppings, and small animal urine. They are odor eliminators for cat urine odor, dog urine odor, vomit odor, hairball odor, bird dropping odor, small animal odor, dog smell, cat smell, ferret smell and other small animal smells. CLEAN+GREEN® is a stain remover for urine, feces, vomit, hairballs and any other pet accidents.

Clean + Green Products Review
I love to find products that keep our home clean and is also safe for the environment. When approached to review Clean + Green Products I jumped at the chance to test out their products in our home.
We received 2 large 14 oz. cans. 1 for Carpet and Upholstery, 1 for Furniture Refresher.
The Carpet & Upholstery products penetrates deep into the carpet, area rugs and upholstery. Just spray-no need to soak or scrub. It works on contact. It also eliminates odors, deep cleans and removes stains. We received the Fragrance Free version.
We can't seem to avoid the stains in our carpets due to the kids spilling their drinks and food, or my husband walking in with his boots from work with dried up concrete and dirt falling all over the place. So I got excited about testing this out on a stain in our carpet. I sprayed it on the carpet inour hallway. I don't know what the stains were,it was probably spilled kool-aid or something. I left it to dry, as per instructions for about three[3] hours tops.
The stain was practically gone and no smell:) So far, this product is a thumbs up and a must buy. On to the Furniture Refresher spray.
The Furniture Refresher is fragrance free, works on contact, can be used on Pet Beds, Leather, fabric and upholstery. It also cleans and eliminates pet odors on fabric and leather. Where as we don't have pets, but smelly socks on furniture counts in our home. The spray ismade from all natural ngredients, 100% Biodegradable and all natural Pet Safe.
I decided to use it on our chairs. It has a suede feel to it and I figure it'll work. So I spray it on the chairs and it's a light mist with no odors. The upholstery has a fresh, clean smell to it. We fried sausages last night so the chairs had a really
strong smell of fried food on it. After spraying it with The Furniture Refresher it didn't smell like fried foods. I think that's wonderful to have it handy when you know that guests are arriving and you give your furniture a quick spray and the odors are gone! Another thumbs up on this product as well.

"BETTER IN BULK" CLEAN+GREEN REVIEW & GIVEAWAY
February 15, 2010
According to the Environmental Protection Association (EPA), typical household cleaning products and air fresheners are one of the leading contributors to poor indoor air quality. The agency reports that poor indoor air quality can lead to health issues; animals have faster metabolisms and smaller lungs than humans, and not only are they processing these chemicals at a faster rate, they are also breathing them in more rapidly. Because animals are closer to the ground, they are more often in direct contact with these harmful substances. The same could be said about little children!
I was thrilled to accept some samples of Clean+Green eco-friendly (and pet-and-child-friendly!) cleaners to test in my house.
Heaven knows I need help cleaning.
And although I don’t have any pets, I certainly have enough little ones running around to be concerned about the safety of the chemicals and cleaners I use. Especailly considering I’m actively teaching THEM to do the cleaning.
I have always considered myself relatively “green.” Growing up, I was taught to conserve, to reuse, and later, to recycle. I have been known to reach in the garbage to pull out a recyclable item because it irks me to throw it away.
But I never thought much about eco-friendly cleaners.
Clean+Green changed that for me. Clean+Green are the only eco-friendly aerosol pet cleaning products on the planet. Unlike most other cleaning products that can be harmful, require multiple applications and/or only temporarily mask odors, Clean + Green delivers instant results in a non-toxic, eco-friendly solution. What is there not to love??
I LOVE that I can use it to clean my couch and chair that happened to get peed on by a sleepy 4 year old. Grr. I hate it when that happens. And, yes, it did happen this last week and I was able to test Clean+Green upholstery cleaner out. Thank goodness.
Oh, and as an added bonus, my kids LOVE the bottles. They call them “Chihuahua cleaner” and “Golden Retriever cleaner” and think they’re so cool.
The other great news about Clean+Green is that they can be found WalMart, PETCO, PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus and other retailers that sell pet specialty products in the US and Canada, as well as through the Clean+Green site – www.sea-yu.com.

"KATIE TALKS ABOUT" CLEAN+GREEN REVIEW & GIVEAWAY
Posted by Katie on February 14, 2010
I recently had the opportunity to try Clean + Green pet stain and odor products. As you know, we try to use “green” products as much as possible in our home, and it’s no exception with our pets. Their cleaning products are organic and non-toxic, and even their containers are recycleable!
They produce green cleaning products for carpet, upholstery, & wood floors that work on pet urine & feces, vomit and hairballs. They also produce odor eliminators that work to eliminate all those lovely odors our pets produce, like urine and vomit. The products are made with very simple ingredients: Cane sugar derivatives, proprietary blend of botanical extracts, hydrated cellulose (cleaning agents) purified water and nitrogen. They are biodegradable and contain no fragrances. The sprays are non-flammable.
We’ve got 3 cats, so you can imagine that they produce some, um, interesting odors and messes. Our oldest, Vinny, had a problem with inappropriate urination when we first moved into our current house. He’s mostly cured of that, but still has the occasional accident. Clean + Green is a great product to use on areas where he has urinated. Fortunately, he has not had any accidents since we’ve received our products, but I still used them on two areas where he has urinated in the past and I did notice that the smell was more or less gone after using it. The odor wasn’t bad to begin with, but it now seems to be gone. I’ve also used it to clean up areas where the cats have vomited (with 3 cats, that happens at least a few times a week) and it has cleaned the area adequately.
We’ve also used the Litter Box Cleaner and Odor Remover on their boxes. We keep up with scooping daily, but boxes still smell. This product has been great to use after one of them poops, or when the litter is getting close to needing to be changed.
Clean + Green makes products specific to cats and to dogs as well as products specific for birds and for small animals, so no matter your pet, they’ve got a product for you. (Ok, if you have a snake, maybe not)
Buy Them: Clean + Green products can be found at many retailers in US and Canada including Petco and Petsmart, as well as smaller pet stores. They can also be purchased on Clean + Green’s website. Products retail for $6.99 to $9.49.
Win Them: Clean + Green has graciously offered one lucky reader their choice of SIX Clean + Green products!
Mandatory Entry: Head on over to Clean + Green and come back and tell me what product you think you would benefit from the most, and tell me what pets you have.

"OF RATS & JEN" CLEAN+GREEN SMALL ANIMAL REVIEW & GIVEAWAY
By admin, on February 12th, 2010
It’s been a while since I reviewed any products or books here. A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the folks at SeaYu Enterprises , asking if I’d like to receive one of their all-natural pet deodorizer products to review for the blog.
I popped over to their website to check them out, and was intrigued by what I saw. If their claims held up, we could certainly use what they make! So I said, sure, please send me a can of the Small Animal All Purpose version of the product.
A week or two later, a box arrived. It contained a can of their Clean + Green Small Animal All Purpose Cleaner, Odor Eliminator and Stain Remover. For the purposes of this review, I’m just going to call it theirSmall Animal All Purpose product.
In a completely unrelated event, Gryphon and I both became ill over the next few weeks. The poor, patient folks at SeaYu had to wait and wait until we could give our proper attention to trying out their Small Animal spray. My thanks to them for waiting us out with grace!
The Clean+Green product line is about pet odor, pet stains, and cleaning floors, furniture, and cages from pet urine and other deposits. Unlike other products that work by masking the odors, Clean + Green claims toencapsulate the odors, then cause them to rapidly biodegrade, eliminating the source of the odor or stain altogether.
Sounds good. But does it work?
The product we received, the Small Animal All Purpose spray, states it can be used for:
• Airborne odors
• Cage cleaning (odor and stain removal)
• and directly on your Small Pets fur.
We – well, actually, Gryphon, since he does the majority of our cleaning – tried out the first two uses. We haven’t actually sprayed any on either KoKo or Chanel, because they’re just not all that stinky most of the time.
Our first test was as an airborne odor spray. As sick as we’ve been, the cage cleaning has suffered a little, and when you walked in the living room, you knew it. Gryphon stood in the center of the room and sprayed a full circle around him, about a 2 to 3 second burst. When he came back in five minutes later, he couldn’t smell any residual odor. The cage itself still smelled a bit, but he hadn’t directly treated it.
After that, we used the Small Animal All Purpose for a couple of situations where we had an odor we wanted to eliminate – not necessarily a pet odor, but such items as bed linens that smelled stale from storage. A light spraying, and the odor was gone. There appears to be no noticeable residue left behind, either, at least not that we could find.
Finally, we used it in a full cage cleaning. Any of you with small pets knows how grungy and sticky the wires and surfaces can get, and how hard to clean they are.
After clearing out dirty bedding and such, Gryphon started by using soap and water to wipe down the vinyl tiles and wire floors and ramps in the cage, as usual. Our “soap” is a mix of castille soap, washing soda, and borax, used diluted.
When finished with our soap solution, Gryphon then sprayed the same surfaces with Small Animal All Purpose. Though the product says you don’t need any soaking time, he let it sit a moment, then wiped it off.
It was impressive how much more grunge came off the surfaces! We were left with an odor-free cage as well.
Clean+Green Small Animal All Purpose worked well in all our tests – airborne odor, surface odor, and cage cleaning. While it will not substitute for the complete scrubbing down that all cages need a couple times a year, it was more effective than our soap and water wipe downs have been, leaving the cage cleaner and better smelling. It will probably make those deep cleanings easier to do as well. If you have small, caged pets, I highly recommend it.
We are very picky about the products we use in our home. In addition to general concerns about environmental issues, we have our own respiratory ailments and sensitivities that force us to choose carefully. Clean + Green Small Animal has made our cut, and we’re very happy to have it.
Other products in the Sea-Yu Enterprises Clean + Green line provide cleaning and odor elimination solutions for owners of dogs, cats, and birds, as well as a spray specifically designed for cleaning ferret and small animal cages.
You can order directly from theSeaYu Enterprises website. They offer free shipping for orders of $30 or more. They also provide a search for stores that may carry their product, and links to online retailers.
But YOU might get to try it free!
SeaYu Enterprises has generously offered one free can of any of their products for just ONE of my readers! Here’s how the giveaway will work:
1. Visit the Sea-Yu Enterprises website here:http://www.sea-yu.com.
2. Study their selection of products, and choose one you’d like to try.
3. Come back to this post, and leave a comment saying which product you’d like to try, and why.

5. Each comment that meets these requirements will earn you one entry.
6. Additional entries can be earned by linking to this post in either a Tweet, a post on your own blog, or an entry on yourFacebook wall. Just leave me a comment telling me you’ve done so.
7. My apologies to my Canadian and overseas friends, but due to shipping restrictions, the contest is only open to US residents. Prize can also not be shipped to PO Boxes.
On Saturday, February 20th, I’ll compile all the entries and do a random drawing to find ONE winner. I’ll then e-mail that person and request their shipping address.
Good luck to everyone, and I hope you enjoyed learning about Sea-Yu Enterprises and Clean + Green products!

"HEALTHY PET BLOGS" CLEAN+GREEN REVIEW
February 9, 2010
According to the Environmental Protection Association (EPA), typical household cleaning products and air fresheners are one of the leading contributors to poorindoor air quality.

"GREEN LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE" ECO FRIENDLY PET CLEANING PRODUCTS
January 7, 2010
I have three dogs and two cats. I wanted one dog, but I ended up with all these pets because I have a bit of a soft side when it comes to animals in need. All of these animals would likely have died or been killed if I hadn’t taken them in. Most had serious health problems which caused some unpleasant digestive issues and consequent messes in the house. Thank goodness Green+ Clean sent us a timely sample of Wood and Tile cleaner, Furniture Refresher, and Carpet and Upholstery cleaner well before my pets stopped trying to ruin our carpet.
I can say that the Carpet and Upholstery cleaner worked as well or better than anything else we’ve ever tried for removing pet stains. In fact, when I ran out, I went to my local pet store and was delighted to find the product for sale there. The Wood and Tile cleaner worked just as well. We also use the Furniture Refresher, spraying it on the doggy bed to reduce that thick doggy smell. But here is what is really remarkable about these products: the labels say, “All ingredients are non-toxic and harmless to pets, people and the planet.”
Do you ever look at a label on a supposedly environmentally responsible product and see as many warnings as any conventional product? These products are truly green. And the bonus is that their products don’t just work, they work as well as anything else available.
G-Life highly recommends the full line of Clean + Green cleaning products.
"GREEN ADOPTIONS" CLEAN+GREEN PRODUCT REVIEW
Friday, December 4, 2009
Okay, so I know its been awhile since I posted. I have so many things going on but still, no excuse, right??
One thing that has been taking up a lot of our time is our new puppy Nikko (pronounced Knee-Co)! We have had him for about three months now and he is a darling Yorkie with lots of love to give and well, lots of accidents. I had dogs before, but they were NEVER this hard to train. Of course, there was a concern about him going pee pee all over our cream colored, yes, cream colored carpets, and using harsh chemicals to clean it up, but I was just in luck when I found Clean+Green Eco-Friendly Pet Cleaning Products by Sea Yu. The carpet and upholstery cleaner was just what we needed. It quickly eliminated any odors and left our carpets without any stains what so eva! The nice thing, too, was knowing that it was made from all natural ingredients like water, cane sugar, etc… If you are planning on or already have animals, I would highly recommend this product. Our kids spend a majority of the time on the floor and using harsh chemicals is a big hazard.
Needless to say, we are still working on getting him trained and so if you have any suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them!

"LUSCIOUS DEALS" CLEAN+GREEN
I left it to dry, as per instructions for about three [3] hours tops.
The spray is made from all natural ingredients, 100% Biodegradable and all natural Pet Safe. I decided to use it on our chairs. It has a suede feel to it and I figure it'll work. So I spray it on the chairs and it's a light mist with no odors. The upholstery has a fresh, clean smell to it. We fried sausages last night so the chairs had a really strong smell of fried food on it. After spraying it with The Furniture Refresher it didn't smell like fried foods. I think that's wonderful to have it handy when you know that guests are arriving and you give your furniture a quick spray and the odors are gone! Another thumbs up on this product as well.
