Most of my daily readers know we just purchased a new-to-us vehicle. It's actually the first we've bought from a car dealership, so we were pretty excited when they said they were going to detail it for us while we finished up the paperwork.
Had I known the person detailing it was a smoker, I would have said no. Really, I'm not anti-smoker - I smoked myself for years - but when we got into the truck to go home, it smelled like an ashtray full of cheap brand ciggys. It was AWFUL. I probably should have spoken up, but we had already been there over four hours and really, I just wanted to get home ASAP. I figured it would be gone by the next morning, since really, how long had the worker been in there?
Oh boy, was I wrong! If anything, the smell was worse the next day. DH left the windows open a little the next day at work, it still didn't help. I was super lucky because a bottle of
clean+green Auto arrived for me, in the nick of time to review. (and here I thought I was going to use it to get rid of the smell of wet dog and stale Cheerios before we sold our car! Ha!)

clean+green Auto eliminates odors, deep cleans, and removes stains, all while being safe for pets and kids, and it's eco-friendly too since it's made with non-toxic botanicals. Now our truck has cloth seats instead of leather, so I'm starting to get a little more paranoid about stains! We have two Corgis who go with us pretty much everywhere! Muddy pawprints... drool... spilled water dishes... *cringe* When we brought Captain back home from his surgery, I was holding my breath that he wouldn't be sick in the truck on the way home. I was lucky this time, but since the Corgis are now classified as "seniors" since they are over the age of seven, it could happen in the future.
There are two way you can use the clean+green Auto. If you are just dealing with stale odors in the air, you pop the hood of your vehicle, and locate the intake vents. Start your vehicle, and turn the fan - not the AC - to high, and lower one of the back windows about 2". Shake the can well, and spray the clean+green Auto into the intake vents for about 3 minutes (longer if the smell is really bad). Then wait about five minutes, and repeat once more. If the smell is super rank - let's say you got hit by a skunk - you'll probably want to repeat at least once more again. Two times was more than enough to clear the stale smoke smell out of our truck.
Now if the smell is in the fabric or leather - or you have a stain to clean out - you need to check for color fastness FIRST. Just pick an inconspicuous area, like the very bottom facing the seat in front, or the side by the door. After you've done this, and you're sure you're not making the stain worse, spray directly onto the fabric. Give it a moment, and wipe dry leather or vinyl. For fabric seats, you'll have to wait for them it to air dry. (If you're incredibly impatient, I recommend using a hair dryer to dry it faster. lol) When it's dry, you get to do the sniff test. If you don't smell any of the rank smell - or the stain is gone - hurray! You're done! If the smell is still there, or a bit of a stain - try again.
Personally, I used the clean+green Auto first like an air freshener - I sprayed it into the air and on the carpeting. It helped, but not enough, so we used the vent method up above. This fixed the smell issue! Since the ingredients are non-toxic for the kiddo and doggies, I didn't have to worry about airing the truck out before we went shopping. We still had plenty left in the bottle for another application down the road. (Well, unless the next time is super bad - knock on wood that it isn't. lol)
